Who We Are:
Congregation Ner Tamid PreschoolFounded in 1978, the Congregation Ner Tamid David's School and Early Childhood Center was established to meet the needs of families of all denominations desiring a warm and nurturing preschool experience for their children.

We are pleased to announce that Congregation Ner Tamid’s David's School and Early Childhood Center is one of first programs in the country to achieve the new level of accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Two years ago, NAEYC reinvented their process for accreditation of preschools nationwide and it raised the standards for accreditation significantly.

For children two years through five years of age, our preschool program integrates active learning to promote cognitive, social, emotional, physical and creative development.

Our children are also given the opportunity to observe and experience Jewish rituals, joys, celebrations and customs so that they can develop their own identities as Jews. We have Friday Shabbat parties, hands-on activities and projects, family programs and more.

All of our classes are taught by educated teachers who far exceed minimum licensing requirements. Our teachers continue to take classes in child development and are kept up-to-date in current early education trends. We also maintain very low child-to-teacher ratios.

NON-DISCRIMINATION STATEMENT

This school does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of its education policies, admission policies, or other school-administered programs.

Mission Statement
The mission of Congregation Ner Tamid Preschool is to provide a high quality, developmentally appropriate early childhood preschool experience in a warm and nurturing environment that supports the development of the whole child.

Philosophy
Congregation Ner Tamid David's School and Early Childhood Center has the unique responsibility of serving young children and their parents. As a reflection of our commitment to and our value of children:

  • We believe that each child is unique. We provide the opportunity for each child to grow, learn and develop at his/her own pace.

  • We believe it’s important to recognize and consider children’s needs, interests, abilities and developmental stages when planning and implementing appropriate learning experiences.

  • We provide activities to help the child grow intellectually, emotionally, socially, physically and spiritually.

  • We believe that the first years are critical in the lives of children. Children’s brains develop most dramatically during their first five years of life. By providing a high-quality early childhood program, we help stimulate this growth.

  • We believe that by providing children with a high-quality, nurturing program, we can touch your child’s life forever. (Recent studies by California First Five have shown that preschool will not only help children to develop and will build their self-confidence but that, later down the road, it will help them do better in school, make them more likely to graduate from high school and go on to college.)

  • We believe in giving children the opportunity to observe and experience Jewish rituals, joys, celebrations and customs.

  • We meet the needs of the children enrolled at Congregation Ner Tamid David's School and Early Childhood Center by creating a warm, nurturing atmosphere and hiring professional, qualified and loving teachers.

  • We believe that families play an important role in our program and in turn our preschool is an extended arm of each child's family. As such, we work closely with families to ensure that we address children’s needs, interests and areas of developmental growth. We strongly encourage families to participate in a variety of activities and programs offered throughout the year.

Building Relationships
Congregation Ner Tamid's David's School and Early Childhood Center program responds to the need of families by providing a safe and healthy environment for children while families pursue their own learning and vocations. Our program offers opportunities for families to learn about the development of their children through ongoing family-teacher interactions, family participation in the classroom, family workshops, lending materials, and community resource information. Special events for families provide social interaction for adults, children, and their siblings.
