Ami Berlin

Ami Berlin grew up at Congregation Ner Tamid and has been working at CNT for 33 years, the last 18 years as the Director of Education and Youth. Ami loves her work at CNT and feels very grateful to be a part of this community. Ami graduated from the University of Arizona with a BA in Political Science and Psychology. She also has a MBA in NonProfit Management from the University of Judaism, a certificate from Hebrew Union College in Jewish Education specializing in adolescents and emerging adults, and a MA in Education from American Jewish University.  In her free time, Ami likes to spend time with her friends and family, walk her dog, Coco, binge popular streaming shows and do yoga (her newest hobby). Ami is particularly proud that seven of the ten faculty members are alumni of CLAL and 21 current CLAL students are the second generation of the family that Ami taught - their parents were her students too!  Ami is so excited for the upcoming year and knows it is going to be a really special one!

Kariene Millet

Kariene Millet will be teaching Torah Tots for the 2024-2025 school year. A little bit about her, she graduated from the University of Arizona in 2018 with a Bachelors in Family Studies and Human Development and Special Education. She has been apart of the CLAL faculty since 2019. When she is not teaching at CLAL, you can find her watching Netflix or Disney+ cuddling with her doggy Henry. She is very excited for her fifth year teaching Torah Tots and to get to know each and every one of your children as they embark on a year full of fun, creativity, and ruach! 

Gabi Perez

Gabi Perez is teaching Gan (Kindergarten) this year! She assisted in classrooms as a madricha for four years and this is her fifth year as CLAL faculty. One of her favorite things about teaching getting to know students’ diverse personalities and inspiring them to love their Jewish identity. Gabi is a graduate of Chadwick school and is currently a Junior at University of Southern California. When she is not teaching at CLAL, Gabi enjoys hanging out with her family and dog, doing art, and trying fun new recipes. Gabi can’t wait for an amazing school year!

Hannah Dunbar

Hannah Dunbar is teaching Kitah Aleph (1st Grade) and Kitah Bet (2nd Grade) this year! This is her sixth year being a part of the CLAL faculty and loves teaching students at CNT. Hannah just received her Masters in Social Work with an emphasis in Child Welfare from Cal State Long Beach. When she is not teaching at CLAL, Hannah enjoys spending time with loved ones, working out, trying new restaurants and cooking/baking. Hannah is very excited for the upcoming CLAL year and cannot wait to see new and old faces!

Stella Schwab

Stella Schwab is teaching Kitah Gimel (3rd Grade) for the 2024-2025 school year! This year, Stella is a senior at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School. She attended CLAL as a student and then was a madricha for 4 years. In her free time, Stella loves playing guitar, swimming, and making pickles! She is excited for an incredible school year!

Shery Hakimian

Shery Hakimian will be teaching Kitah Dalet (4th grade) this academic year. She is very happy and proud to be part of CLAL faculty for the last 23 years. Shery graduated from the University of Tehran with major in psychology. After graduation, she moved to Israel and lived in Israel for ten years. She currently lives in Rancho Palos Verdes with her husband and twins. Shery enjoys meeting new people and learning about their language and culture. she is looking forward for a year full of learning and fun with her students. 

Robert "Robbie" Levine

Robert “Robbie” Levine is excited to return to CLAL as the Kitah Hey teacher. As a proud graduate and former staff member, he has a unique perspective on the school’s values and traditions. During his absence, Robbie earned a degree in Psychology with a minor in Jewish Studies from the University of Colorado while on the pre-medical track. During his time spent away from CLAL, Robbie serves as the front office manager and medical assistant at Harbor Foot and Ankle Podiatric Medical Group while completing prerequisites for podiatry school at Harbor College. In his free time, Robbie enjoys fitness, cooking, and photography, and is eager to contribute to CLAL’s vibrant community.

Ethan Cohen

Ethan Cohen is teaching Kitah Vav (6th grade) for his fourth year at CNT. Ethan is a graduate of El Camino College and is attending Cal State Long Beach this Fall. Outside of the classroom, Ethan likes workout, photography and reading. Ethan is extremely excited to continue sharing his love for Judaism and Israel this upcoming CLAL year!

Miriam Cohn

Miriam Cohn is teaching Kitah Zayin (7th grade) this year and is the Assistant Director of Youth Engagement! This is her 6th year on CLAL Faculty and absolutely loves it and is looking forward to this year! She graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in economics. Miriam’s favorite activities are reading (especially at a coffeeshop), hiking, snowboarding, and anything outdoorsy. She is looking forward to a fun and fantastic year! 

Karin Tiler

Karin Tiler is teaching Hebrew and Judaism this year! She has been a part of the CLAL faculty for the last twelve years and loves teaching students at CNT. Karin grew up in Israel and enjoy bringing her knowledge of Israel and Hebrew to her students. She loves helping her students learning for their Bar / Bat Mitzvah and she is doing it with her own fun way. When she is not teaching at CLAL, Karin enjoys spending time with her family, paddle boarding, rollerblading, going to the beach, ride bikes and traveling. Karin is very excited for the upcoming CLAL year!

Sia Presser

Sia Presser is the Shira (singing) teacher for Sunday school. She is a sophomore at Palos Verdes High School. She started at Ner Tamid as a preschool student, attended CLAL and had her Bat Mitzvah ceremony at our synagogue.  Last year she participated in the national Jewish Star program, an opportunity for Jewish teen musicians to obtain professional mentorship. She believes that learning Jewish prayers and songs is an incredibly fun and educational way to connect with one’s Jewish identity.
